- Republican small businessman and Eastern Shore native Rob Fisher released the
following statement on passage of H.R. 1586:
"Today
Congress voted to waste billions more taxpayer dollars in a brazen attempt to
score political points in an election year. I am appalled but not surprised that Nancy Pelosi, Frank
Kratovil and the Democrat Congress are yet again pandering to special interests
at the expense of the American Taxpayer.
H.R.
1586 is a blatant payoff to unions and a bailout for states that have grossly
mismanaged taxpayer dollars.
Taxpayers want to know: When will the madness end? The American people deserve
accountability and are demanding action that benefits everyone, not just big
Democrat contributors. This
legislation contains no accountability and does nothing to improve the
financial well-being of the thousands of residents in Maryland's First District
that are struggling to provide for their families.
Instead
of bailing out unions and rewarding irresponsible governing, Pelosi and
Kratovil should be working to improve the lives of every American. As schools are preparing to open,
thousands of Marylanders are worried about providing clothes and supplies for
their children and yet Pelosi and Kratovil are more concerned about PAC dollars
and political payoffs. The people
of Maryland's First District deserve better. It's time we elected a representative who will stop the
insanity and bring common-sense leadership back to Congress."
